Tonight's show ROCKED!

6/28/2000, PNC Bank Arts Center - Holmdel, New Jersey
Set I (0:58): Chalkdust Torture, Sloth, Taste, Bathtub Gin, Piper > If I Could
Set II: Down with Disease -> Harry Hood* -> Gotta Jibboo, When the Circus Comes, Mike's Song**, Albuquerque > Weekapaug Groove
Encore: First Tube, Loving Cup

It was just massive. The band was obviously really into it, breaking out some heavy grooves and segues which I haven't heard for a very long time. I dunno what it is about NJ, but I'm glad I was there to see it. I had a good time at the show, not only grooving to the tunes, but I also brought in a bunch of balloons and bubbles and handed them out for free. It really gave people a kick and I enjoyed spreading such a good vibe. Giving simple stuff away is what it's all about... Security getting into the place was rather tight, attributed much more to the ticket checkers (looking counterfeits) rather than pat-down. That's ok with me, though the wait got rather annoying after a while.

Also, the media is doing their usual hack job on the crowd, quoting the police who are crowing about making a heroin bust "on a couple from Wisconsin" and claiming two dozen arrests, mostly for loitering and sleeping in a car in a hospital parking lot. Such criminals. It's good to know our tax dollars are being spent on such important things.

06/29/2000 PNC Bank Arts Center - Holmdel, New Jersey
Set I (0:55): Funky Bitch -> Wilson, Limb by Limb, Drowned -> Rock and Roll
Set II: Birds of a Feather -> Catapult -> Heavy Things, Sand*, Meatstick** -> Cities***, Walk Away -> Run Like an Antelope****, Frankenstein, Wading in the Velvet Sea#
Encore: Character Zer0

Before the show, the pre-show music was interrupted by an announcement from Jon, or at least someone who sounded like Jon, for everyone to sing the national anthem.

* - with an extremely dark and sinister jam
** - Band brings Sofi (Page's wife) on stage to dance with them and they talk about Page and Sofi's baby. Someone else tries to run up on stage as well. Trey improvises and adds a verse on how Carini is the only person with a song and neither Paul nor Chris have one. Trey talks about the Meatstick being a dance craze in Japan. So they do the japanese lyrics. Bart, Carini's backup, comes out on stage for an introduction from Trey during "Meatstick"
*** - "A lot of people in Tokyo ... doing the Meatstick ... I smell sushi"
**** - with "Meatstick" teases
# - Trey mentionens how this is practically a home show and thanks Carini, Chris and the crew; big ending with "Meatstick" teases

1:22am, June 30, 2000 (after the 2nd PNC show) Wow- wow wow wow wow wow. What can I say but that this was a faaaaaaaaaaaaaaat ass show. I got kicked down some massive tickets, and my friend & I partied and danced like rockstars. It was a absolutely immense show. I don't know what's going on in that band, but I like it a lot. Their energy and enthusiasm is like nothing I've seen for years.

I'm beat now and need to get to sleep before the drive to Hartford, so peace till later.
