El 'N Gee Club, 4-15-2000

Here are pics from The Slip's show at the El N' Gee club in New London. Total dive. Mixed crowd, too- lots of locals who were there to get hang out & get drunk. No idea about what or who BAM where or what they were into. There was a separate, walled-off drinking area in the back of the place, which you weren't allowed to leave with alcohol in your hand. In other words, their solution to an all-ages setup. (Hey, CT is a fucked up place...) So people ended up making periodic sprints back to the bar to fill up. People old enough, that is; a lot of young'uns there!

In all a very good show. I got the impression at it was musically "dark" show (and hence the mood of my pics), with a lot of wild improvisation and experimetation. As is becoming more common with their shows, concrete setlists are increasingly elusive. Great energy regardless, though. I had a great time and really enjoyed seeing them. Was a while for me. And a small crowd, which I love.
