I like the Tweeter Center- it's pretty close to home (about an hour's drive) and it's not too bad a place. Ever since they got major corporate sponsorship (changed the name from Great Woods Center for the Performing Arts to the horrendous Tweeter Center) Bose installed a killer house sound system. Not too shabby. Plus they played two absolutely HUGE shows there last year. Look for me stumbling around the venue or sitting here. You can also check out the tourcam and listen in on the tourphone. | |||

Tues 9/11, 2:24am(after show 1): I liked it. I liked it a lot. Didn't have the sheer immensity of Albany, the same sheer power, but it was deeper and more intense. They seemed really into it… they were working hard and it showed. Wish I could write more now, but but I'm rather phried. Maybe tomorrow. Tweeter Center - Mansfield, Massachusetts Set I (75 min.): Road Runner*, Moma Dance, Rift, Brain and Robert**, Vultures, Horn, Beauty of My Dreams, Yamar***, Stash Set II: Chalkdust Torture, Twist, Piper, What's the Use?, You Enjoy Myself Encore: Good Times Bad Times * - Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers cover from the album "The Modern Lovers"; with rants about Massachusetts at the end (Page's mom in Massachusetts, I'm in love with Massachusetts, etc.) ** - with a woman on stage translating to sign language *** - with a start-stop jam, and an "itty bitty girl" running on stage during the stops and dancing. Wed 9/12 (after show 1): This was a great show! They were right on the whole time, hammering out massive tune after another. Divided Sky was particularly good, as was the DWD, SOAM (both!), and Mike's. Shit, that's half the show. :) It was simply really really really good; definitely a must-have. Only thing that got me down was stage jumpers. There were four this show. For their part, at least they didn't fuck with the band- they just jumped back into the crowd, but it was nevertheless a little distracting. One guy jumped twice- he got back into the crowd both times but on the second one he dropped his keys. Pete Carini grabbed them and took them backstage. Sucks to be that guy... 09/12/2000 Tweeter Center - Mansfield, Massachusetts Set I: Wolfman's Brother, Scent of a Mule, My Soul, Ginseng Sullivan, First Tube, Divided Sky, Wilson Set II: Down with Disease*, Heavy Things, Split Open and Melt, HYHU > Bike** > HYHU***, 2001**** > Mike's Song > I am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove Encore: Squirming Coil^ * - Carini comes out to chase a stage diver ** - Jon confers with Trey before mentioning that he only knows two songs anyway and starting the song; introduces the band (Page McConnell, Cactus, Ernestasio Anastasio) before the vaccuum solo *** - with start-stop jamming while Jon takes his bows, kicks balls back into the crowd and runs around the stage **** - with glowsticks ^ - Page finishes his solo and thanks the audience before walking off stage |
